OMG horse tornado
water with corners
This is great
What started off as a normal afternoon turned into a race against daylight on the rabbit river this saturday. With the water level being so low, we encountered barrier after barrier of fallen trees. After 4 hours the sun was starting to sink over the horizon and we knew for our own survival that we needed to get off that river before it was dark. So we made the difficult decision to hike our kayaks south to the nearest road.
The satellite image above shows our path. The purple pin is where we got out. The red pin is where we stashed the kayaks next to the road.
It was a half mile through two creeks and swamp. Thorns and thistle cutting and slashing our legs and arms we pulled our kayaks through. Up a steep hill and through a corn farm, we made it!
Now only a 5 mile walk back to the car. The last picture were our directions back to our car and ultimately home. We had to memorize them because my phone battery died.
We eventually made it back to our car. Exhausted as we were we still had to pick up our second car and both kayaks before an hour ride home.
Overall it was an adventure i wont soon forget.

Now I see the secret of making the best person: it is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.
